The Quail Club is located in 3 tracts in Halifax County right now. We have 762 plus acres of prime Quail Hunting. The goal of the Quail Club is to be good stewards of the land we lease. We have planted and thinned pines along with large open fields for hunting. The 1st track we have is a 250 acre planted tree farm. Its has a 130 acres of planted and thinned pines set up in blocks with trails all around it. It makes for easy walking and hunting. Plus it has a swamp that should make for some great woodcock hunting. This track will also have 1 Surragators on it this yr to help build up the wild quail on this track. The Club will be working hard on this track to improve the native food plots and nesting areas for quail. The 2nd track is 100 plus acres of newly planted pines and some mature pines for hunting. There is also a hard wood bottom that is great for turkey hunting. We will also be working on the field borders to improve quail nesting and feeding areas. Our 3rd tract is 10 mins up the road from both of these tracks. This tract has some fields set aside in Government programs for Wildlife. There are large fields that have been planted in young hard woods that are great for quail hunting. There are other fields that are planted in either corn, soybeans or peanuts rotated every yr. Plus there are large wire grass fields under High Power lines great for hunting also. This Club is made for the avid Upland Bird Hunter looking for a great place to hunt and train your dog. Also we are looking for members that are committed to putting the time and energy in to this Club to make stand above others. The Duck Club has land in Johnston , Pitt, Martin, Edgecombe and Halifax Counties . The tracks range some large swamps, beaver ponds, farm ponds to an 8 acre waterfowl impoundment being built in 09. The Club is small but made up for avid Duck Hunters. Like the Quail Club we pride ourselves in being good stewards of the land and try and give back what we take. We maintain Wood Duck boxes each yr and in 09 we will also start building and putting out Hen Houses for mallards. These are all great projects also great for youths and other family members to join in and have some fun too. Each yr we try and add some new land for the club so we do not over hunt any one area. This will give some of our places a rest from hunting pressure. We have also pick up 2 more tracts of land that have impoundments on them. |
